World Cup 2010
South Africa
Dates: June 11- July 11, 2010
Exodus Cry will be taking a team of intercessory abolitionists from across the nations to take a stand on the ground in South Africa during the 2010 World Cup. As representatives of the body of Christ we are declaring the Lord’s zeal for justice and righteousness over the oppressed of the Earth caught in the cycle of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. This window of time during the World Cup represents a moment of crisis when all the contributing factors in the global slave trade will converge in one nation for a thirty-one day period. Conservative estimates suggest that more than 40,000 women and children will be trafficked into and through South Africa leading up to and during the World Cup. “You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” – Isaiah 62:6-7
Vision:
To stand in the gap. As intercessory abolitionists we are making a stand in the place of prayer and drive back the flood of exploitation as thousands of men descend on South Africa for the World Cup. (Ezekiel 22:30)
To reach out to trafficked and prostituted women by offering them rescue from their bondage and shelter and care where they can be restored through the love and hope of Jesus Christ. (Luke 4:18) To activate the church of South Africa into their role as intercessory abolitionists, partnering with the Heart of God for the freedom and deliverance of His sons and daughters trapped in the cycle of human trafficking, sexual exploitation and brutality. (Luke 18:7-8)
To raise holy awareness among the church in South Africa to the realities of human trafficking; awareness that opens hearts and leads to tender compassion towards our neighbor and righteous holiness before God. (James 1:27)
To raise awareness among the thousands of fans traveling to South Africa for the world cup – awareness that presents the realities of prostitution and deters men from exploiting the most vulnerable and oppressed. (Lamentations 1:2 Psalm 10: 12-18)
