Prevention › Awareness and Education
Sex trafficking thrives when it is hidden in the shadows. It becomes a well-kept secret–an out-of-sight, out-of-mind tragedy with victims who are unable to speak for themselves.
By bringing light into the darkness and forcing the issue to the forefront of collective awareness, we become a voice for the victims. We become advocates for awareness. As long as we are silent, the injustice will continue. Together we must create social awareness and call for an end to sex trafficking around the world. Our awareness and training efforts seek to inform and educate the public about the issue and also give ways to work toward the prevention and eradication of sex trafficking.
Raising public awareness is a critical part of prevention work. Ignorance fosters the growth of this insidious industry in our cities and nations. We are working tirelessly to bring sex trafficking to an end, but we can’t do it alone. We need your help! In the late 1700’s, William Wilberforce initiated an aggressive grassroots campaign to bring the horrors of the slave trade to public awareness. In order to bring about the societal change of heart necessary for the ending of modern-day slavery, we must follow Wilberforce’s example and expose how far reaching the injustice is.
“You may choose to look the other way but you can never say again that you did not know.” — William Wilberforce
We produce films and present screenings with the intent of educating audiences about sex trafficking and inspiring them to become modern-day abolitionists. Exodus Cry founder, Benjamin Nolot, has produced a critically-acclaimed documentary, Nefarious: Merchant of Souls, that tells the stories of some of those trapped in the global sex industry. We screen this film in universities, churches, governments, and theaters.
But it doesn’t stop there. We need you to help us raise awareness by hosting a screening of Nefarious in your own city. Hosting a screening is one of the most effective ways for you to raise awareness and combat modern-day slavery. William Wilberforce’s use of graphics and model slave ships was an invaluable method in his efforts to influence others and abolish slavery. By hosting a screening in your house or church, you will be able to educate others and move their hearts just as Wilberforce did so many years ago.Host a Brookes House Screening Host a Public Screening on Tour
