CA Senator and Notorious Porn Producer Push for Legal Pimping

Recently, California Senator Kamala Harris expressed her support of the full decriminalization of “sex work” in the state of California. What this means in practice is that in addition to decriminalizing the sale of sex, Harris is advocating for removing criminal responsibility for the acts of pimping, buying sex, and brothel keeping.

Under this type of legislation pimps, traffickers, and brothel owners could operate as ordinary businessmen and exploit some of the most vulnerable and abused women in our midst with a government stamp of approval. This law would also turn sex buyers into paying “customers”— the merchandise being the bodies of women and children.

Decriminalizing sex buyers has been shown to embolden more men to buy sex, leading to an increase in demand and an increase in sex trafficking.

Harris purports to support women’s rights and often presents herself as a feminist, yet there is nothing about decriminalization of the sex trade that is pro-women. In fact, in every country that has legitimized sex buying, pimping, and brothel keeping it has been a disaster for women.

The effort to remove criminality for pimps, johns, and brothel owners is being spearheaded by none other than John Stagliano. … the “father” of gonzo, abusive, hardcore pornography.

But perhaps the most egregious part of Harris’ support of decriminalization under the banner of feminism is that the effort to remove criminality for pimps, johns, and brothel owners is being spearheaded by none other than John Stagliano. This man is considered to be the “father” of gonzo, abusive, hardcore pornography and made his fortune off of the commodification, objectification, and destruction of women’s bodies through his porn production company Evil Angel.

In fact, the company’s latest film released in February 2019 is called Gape and Gag Helpers, and its marketing copy advertises that the women in the video are humiliated, tortured, choked, spit on, forced to ingest feces—even going so far as eroticizing actual bodily injury that the women experience as a result of being violently penetrated. The pornography that Stagliano produces is some of the most violent and degrading porn available today.

It is no surprise that the founder of the company promoting violence against women, packaged as entertainment, is the same man pushing for the decriminalization of prostitution. These industries are two means to the same end: profiting off of the sexual exploitation, abuse, and degradation of women. It doesn’t take a genius to see his motivation and that of many others like him. If full decriminalization were enacted it would increase his fortune, as he could then legally exploit women in prostitution as well as in porn. Harris has now made herself a champion of his effort.

In a sinister twist, the organization supporting decriminalization headed by Stagliano is doing so under the guise of “fighting trafficking.”

In a sinister twist, the organization supporting decriminalization headed by Stagliano is doing so under the guise of “fighting trafficking.” The name they conjured up to deceive the public about the true nature of their agenda is Informed Californian’s Against Trafficking. Stagliano is hiding behind a veil of protecting women and children from sex trafficking even though research from 150 countries demonstrates that full decriminalization actually increases sex trafficking.

The group claims that countries who have implemented legalization or decriminalization laws, such as Germany, have had “stellar results.” But those who understand the dynamics of the sex trade in Germany know that legalizing the purchase of sex, brothels, and pimping has been a disaster for women pulled into the sex industry to meet the increased demand, and a disaster for the country, as it has turned into the “brothel of Europe.”

Ep. 06: The Pro “Sex Work” Narrative and the Normalization of Prostitution

After Germany implemented the legalization of pimping, brothel keeping, and sex buying—as Stagliano and Harris aim to do—it was reported that over 400,000 women were pulled into the prostitution industry, working in over 3500 brothels. Over one million men are now buying sex every day in Germany and profits have soared to $17 billion a yearthree or four times more than before the law changed in 2002. Decriminalization is clearly good business for those who seek to exploit the selling of women’s bodies for profit.

One example is Germany’s club “Paradise,” where 150 women are bought for sex by an average of twenty men each per night. Paradise was recently the subject of a documentary called Mega Brothel directed by Edward Watts, a man who has investigated on film the realities of life in places like impoverished Gaza and the journeys of Somali refugees as they make their way to Europe.

Watts tellingly admitted about the creation of Mega Brothel, “I have been to a lot of wild places around the world but I have been nowhere like that.”

“I was sexually abused when I was 10 or 11 years old,” she reflects. “After that, a part of you is dying and it’s not a big deal to work as a prostitute.”

In the film, Josie, one of the women prostituted in the brothel, talks about her personal journey. Like many other women, childhood trauma led her into the sex trade. “I was sexually abused when I was 10 or 11 years old,” she reflects. “After that, a part of you is dying and it’s not a big deal to work as a prostitute.”

Josie says she is currently studying politics in her free time and hopes to go on to become a criminologist. “Criminology has a personal meaning to me because in the red light district you see a lot of crime and violence,” she says.

As she goes on to reflect on her life and what she has experienced she becomes visibly upset. “I have slept with… around 15,000 [customers],” she reveals. “When I say that, it makes me feel so sad.”

On the contrary, one sex buyer named Wolfgang says he stopped calculating his encounters at the club after he passed 500. When asked how buying women for sex affects the women, he is stumped as he admits frankly, “I never thought about it.” You see, because prostitution has been given the green light in Germany, buying women’s bodies for sex like disposable merchandise has become completely normalized. Women have become a commodity to be bought, used, abused, and discarded without a second thought.

If Stagliano and Harris had their way, California would quickly become the brothel of the U.S. and tens of thousands of women would be put at risk of sexual exploitation to feed the increased demand that would surely follow. Harris’ support of hardcore pornographer John Stagliano’s agenda is reason to sound an alarm.
