For most of my life I assumed the international slave trade was a tragic relic of the past, however, over the course of the past couple years I discovered that the business of buying and selling human beings as a commodity is far from over. In fact, the Bible is very clear, slavery will be a predominant entity permeating the earth at the time of Christ’s return.
“Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.”
Did you catch what is being said here? Both “free and slave” will be marked under the antichrist’s reign of terror. But that is not the only prophetic text that declares this unthinkable reality.
“the merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore, cargo of gold, silver, jewels, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory, all kinds of articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.”
This passage describes the fall of Babylon the Great when all those who have grown rich from global commerce will weep for the devastating fall of earth’s final global economic system. Among the profitable commodities listed in the coming days is human slaves.
We are now on the threshold of seeing an entirely new financial order emerge. The economic crisis that has cast the US financial system into a tailspin is leading to calls for a single global currency. The new global economic system that arises from this crisis is paving the way for an antichrist system that will seek to enslave human beings. There is a great need for a Christ-centered abolition movement to emerge like never before.
