Let’s reach sex trafficking victims

during the World Cup

In partnership with
ReHope
Epik Project

Together, we can reach victims on the streets, in strip clubs, online, and in illicit massage parlors during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

From June – July 2026, Kansas City will host six World Cup matches. KC also happens to be a city where we do regular outreach to victims of sex trafficking and exploitation. It’s projected that over half a million people will flood the city for this major event, and we know that’s likely to increase demand for illicit sex—and put victims at even greater risk.

We don’t know how many victims will be sold during the World Cup, but we do know how to find them and help them. With years of experience, our teams are equipped to approach these women and girls in a way that honors their dignity and conveys love.

We’ll come bearing gifts, practical resources, and a hotline they can use when they’re ready to escape a life of exploitation. There will be shelters victims can go to (through our partner ReHope), they’ll be offered mentorship to help build healthy new lives, and we can provide trauma therapy to help them heal from the inside out.

But first, we must meet them where they are. Will you join our team?

Ways to get involved (pick one or more)

  • Go on outreaches to bring love and resources to women exploited in the sex trade.
  • Volunteer at our partner ReHope’s crisis shelter for victims.
  • Participate in the World Cup prayer room.

Will housing be provided?

Housing will not be provided, but there are plenty of short-term rentals (Airbnb, VRBO) available nearby, as well as hotels.

Who can volunteer?

Both men and women aged 21+ are needed on all outreach teams. Roles for men and women will differ (for example, men are needed for security detail). All ages are welcome in the prayer room.

Is doing outreach safe?

Our Exodus Cry team and volunteers have been doing outreaches for over 15 years without anyone being harmed. We use caution in every scenario and always travel with some form of security. That said, there are always risks inherent with in-person outreach and all applicants will need to sign a release form.

Is doing outreach legal?

Yes, everything we do in outreach is legal and we never force ourselves into any place or situation where our presence isn’t welcome.

Do you involve law enforcement?

When we uncover a scenario that involves a blatant form of serious criminal activity (e.g. a child being trafficked) we will notify the authorities immediately. The challenge with most trafficking we encounter is that the coercive tactics traffickers use on adult women largely stays hidden from law enforcement and is harder to prove in court than when a minor is involved. That’s why the most effective way we can help is to approach them with love and present them with options.

Have you ever busted any traffickers?

Yes! During our 2018 World Cup outreach campaign in Moscow, we uncovered an international trafficking ring and we assisted authorities in having the traffickers arrested. The women were set free and we were able to help one underage girl get into an amazing aftercare program. Although we aren’t likely to encounter a scenario like this in Kansas City, anything is possible.

Do I have to commit to every outreach the team does?

No, you can sign up for as little or as many outreaches as you are able to commit to attending so long as you complete the outreach training beforehand.
